When expectations are low, things can only get better.

Agreed? Managing expectations is one of the things I'd really have to work on, as I always just have this much faith in people that disappointments become more the rule rather than the exception. That sounds sad, i know, but am really trying to balance the two now. To be more realistic but to also let people know that certain levels of expectations are still up for meeting.

Anyway, I am totally talking about life expectations in my title, not really about people. Haha. Last long weekend I went with some of my officemates to Punta Fuego in Batangas for some overnight swim tambay. Initially we were looking at (at least!) 7 people to join the trip, but the count ended up at four. No stopping us, though!

Plenty, plenty of surprises just happened during this weekend. From the roadtrip, to having an entire beach to ourselves (for a picnic lunch, yey!), to having an entire pool to ourselves again (seriously, where are the people?), to the accommodations, and plenty more in between. Also went to Sonya's garden and was pleasantly surprised of all the organic items i found theeeere! We were way underbudget but were way above-mark in terms of fun expectations. It was a lazy, lazy, relaxed setting that we slept by the poolside for a good hour, with the slightly overcast sky making the feel just perfect for lounging. This kind of adventure really makes me wonder why some people do not like the beach. I mean, whyyy?

One of the things i really go by is that being less critical in things makes it easier to have fun. When everything's imperfect, the experience just becomes richer, more relevant. Surprises become more meaningful, and the littlest blessings are much more appreciated. It's a little more difficult when we talk about people, and an altogether different story when we talk about work. But life in general, becomes much more awesome when we allow the universe to just align its stars and surprise us every now and then.
